Creator/co-Producer of Pure Metal Sickness, I did a show on ACTV from 1989-1990 called "Musician's Referral" later renamed "Musician's Hotline." I have been a metal head since the 80's, and now that it's back, I want to make sure it lives on. My vision is to unite the metal community in Austin, and across Texas in an alliance; that will keep metal going strong, here and everywhere. After spending a few years living in NYC, and experiencing the amazing metal scene they had there, it was hard coming home and not having that anymore. I decided, rather than crying about it, to do something about it. We hope to make Austin, TX the MECCA for metal bands, everywhere. Our dreams are big, and we believe in ourselves, and each other. We intend on running our show with a great deal of integrity and honesty; and we refuse to sellout on our friends who have helped us, regardless of what it might take away from our show. I'd like the bands to think of us as their own personal fan club, here to serve and promote them. We want them to come to us, if they need anything. I can't stress, enough, how important it is that we, all of us, support each other-at all times, and keep in mind that doing that is what's good for the "whole." Let's work together, and get organized and do something spectacular!

I, Metal Chick a.k.a. Cindy Anderson would like to first and foremost thank the magnificent
Jennifer Carrots for creating this whole Sickness, inspiring it in others, and for being the
badass metal chick that she is…
If surviving adolescence taught me anything, it’s that you have to feed your demons.
Otherwise, you could eventually end up lying drunk on the floor of your living room and
inadvertently reminiscing to tunes from “Saturday Night Fever.” It’s like going to Hell and
finding out that it doesn’t even have a decent soundtrack.
It was never easy bucking the trends and openly castigating the drollery of mainstream pop
and sleep-inducing soft rock, but somewhere in that morass of mediocrity I found a hand to pull
me forward into the alternate reality that was Metal. Maybe it WAS the hand of the devil, but
I still went willingly. I found solace in the dark recesses of a dimensional rift that was
discovered by early pioneers like Judas Priest, Anthrax, and Megadeth (before some of them were
corrupted by blatant commercialism), then eventually ripped asunder by bands like Slayer, Venom,
Man-o-War, Metal Church, Armored Saint, and Mercyful Fate. I knew then that I was finally home.
Of course, it hasn’t all been hugs and puppies. While I was dressed to kill, others scattered
like field mice before me, holding up their pastel Izod’s like knitted barriers in vain attempts
to ward off my evil presence. My numerous forays into the various metal scenes, such as New York
in the 80’s where I encountered groups like Takashi, Virgin Steele, Warhead, and Overkill, were
sometimes painful and mind-numbing. I watched with mixed feelings as many of them faded (often
deservedly so) into the obscurity of the metal ether, never to be heard from again. Still, I’ve
persevered and held onto the faith that has always succeeded in boiling the blood in my veins and
setting my soul on fire. Even as I drift unwillingly through middle age, I still cling tightly
to that steel sword that was forged expressly for the purpose of cleaving society and giving
testimony to the right to thrash.
I only recently received my producer’s license, but I am driven by my desire to expose and glorify
the full potential of the Texas Metal scene. Even the naïve and the clueless know that in unity there
is strength…and with strength comes POWER. This may be the only place where you will find that the
Sickness is the cure.
*** This bio is brought to you by my wonderfully demented and gifted brother Craig who put so
eloquently into words the twisted thoughts that swirl around the last three brain cells floating
in my head. Thanks sweetie.
